Here’s the honest answer. You can safely check the condition yourself: put a level on the top rail to see how far the gate has dropped, rock the gate back and forth to feel the play at the hinge pin, and look under the roller shoe for mushroomed metal or a cracked bearing housing. None of that requires tools or risks anyone. But replacing the hinge pin on a BFT arm is not a wrench-and-go job.
